10mm. The ground
colour is grey, faintly fasciated away from the major pale markings. That on the
forewing is very much larger than that on the hindwing (the reverse in semiustus),
the latter restricted to a red ovate discal mark containing two white bars.
That on the forewing extends from the discal area to the submarginal (to the
margin in semiustus): it is yellow and white, traversed and bordered by
irregular red and orange lines. The genitalia differ from those of semiustus in
that the valve apex is entire, tapering, rather than shallowly excavate into two
lobes. The rugose area of the second abdominal sternite is distinctly
triangular.
