Diagnosis. This is a relatively small species with a broad greyish band distal to
the postmedial on both wings. On the forewing the postmedial forms a darker
chevron at the dorsum often joined by a similar dark chevron within the grey
band. The grey band is dark brown on the underside.
Taxonomic notes. Examination of type material indicates subexpressa and ruptaria
are conspecific.
Geographical range. Nepal, N.E. Himalaya, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo,
Philippines, Sulawesi.
Habitat preference. The species is rare in the lowlands, most frequently
encountered in lower montane forest, particularly on limestone, and also
recorded from upper montane forest.
