Taxonomic notes. H. praeaurata Prout from Sumatra has the hindwing costal zone
broadly yellow, but in facies otherwise and in male genitalia is very similar to
binexata. Its status needs further investigation.
Geographical range. Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Thailand.
Habitat preference. The species is abundant in all lowland forest types
except kerangas and occurs also in lower montane forest. It is more likely than
congeners to be taken in secondary forest and agricultural areas and also occurs
in mangrove.
Biology. The species has been reared from Theobroma cacao (Sterculiaceae;
introduced) (unpublished IIE records).
