Lophoptera transpallida Holloway comb. n.

Gyrtona transpallida Holloway, 1976: 20.

Lophoptera transpallida

Diagnosis.
This species is distinguished by the oblique, pale cream medial zone. It has a central, submarginal white lens on the forewing as in the previous two species.

Taxonomic notes. The male genitalia indicate this may be the sister-species of coangulata, the valves lacking basal processes and having a weakly defined, elongate, finely setose zone over the basal half of the interior of the valve. The valve in transpallida is more sinuous than in coangulata.

Sulawesi specimens have a paler medial zone to the forewing and a more acute indentation to the postmedial one third from the costa.

Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo; Sulawesi.

Habitat preference. Only two Bornean specimens have been seen, one from the lowlands of Sarawak at Bidi and the other from 1930m on G. Kinabalu.
