Diagnosis. The large silver triangle on the forewing is roughly equilateral, lacks
satellite silver marks and is set in a generally uniform brownish red ground
with a central darker streak running the length of the wing. Apart from a size
difference, this and the next species are hardly sexually dimorphic, unlike the Allata
species.
Geographical range. Java (typical); Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo
(ssp. aritai).
Habitat preference. This species is primarily montane, taken frequently
from 1000-2000 m on G. Kinabalu, in upper montane forest (1800 m) on G. Mulu and
at 1618 m on Bukit Retak, but also taken in mixed dipterocarp forest at low
altitudes on G. Mulu and in Ulu Temburong.
