Paramaxates polygrapharia

Diagnosis.
The wings are the characteristic mottled green, grey and white of the genus, but with a diagnostic white patch subtornally on the forewing. Below, the broad dark band submarginally on the forewing is invested with rufous patches.

Taxonomic notes. The Sulawesi race has minor genitalic differences: the valve is broader, less bulbous dorsally at the apex: the aedeagus vesica has small scobinate patch of sclerotisation near the base.

Geographical range. Sundaland; Sulawesi (ssp. celebensis).

Habitat preference. The species has been taken infrequently in a variety of lowland forest types, including heath forest. One specimen was taken in lower montane forest at 900m on G. Api and one at 1620m on G. Kinabalu.
