Xyleutes euphyes West, 1932, Novit. Zool. 37: 219.
Xyleutes sibolgae Roepke, 1957: 31.
Xyleutes kalisi Roepke, 1957: 35, syn. n.
Xyleutes euphyes West; Barlow, 1982: 43; Holloway, 1982a: 188.
Diagnosis. The forewings are pale grey, very finely striated with darker grey, more
intensely basally and medially. The hindwings are pale grey with striae that are
only very faint.
Taxonomic notes. Further material of kalisi from Sulawesi in the BMNH indicates
that the features of distinction noted by Roepke are unreliable, therefore it is
placed as a synonym of euphyes.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo, Philippines,
Sulawesi.
Habitat preference. The only Bornean specimen seen was from mangrove in
Brunei.
