Parasa pastoralis Butler; Hering, 1931: 696; Barlow, 1982: 40.
Diagnosis. This is the largest of Bornean Parasa and
could only be confused with the next species which is smaller, with little or no
ochreous area in the brown forewing margin; the basal brown spot is relatively
half the size and does not contain any ochreous highlights.
Taxonomic note. Sundanian material has a more prominent
darker border to the hindwing, the margin of which is slightly produced
subtornally.
Geographical range. Widespread in the Oriental tropics from N.E.
Himalaya to Sundaland.
Habitat preference.
The species is widespread in lowland areas, taken mainly in hill dipterocarp
forest.
