Diagnosis. The forewings are distally purplish but the basal triangle is pale
yellow; a few specimens have the basal triangle greyish as in purpurea below
but differ in the characteristics of the submarginal and the male genitalia
mentioned for that species.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species has been taken in a range of lowland
habitats in Brunei, including swamp forest and dry heath forest. During the Mulu
survey it was found to be common in hill dipterocarp forest at 150m on the Mulu
transect, frequent in alluvial forest at Long Pala, and taken in small numbers
in lowland limestone forest and in lower montane forest on both G. Mulu and G.
Api. transects.
