Diagnosis. See the generic description. The males are smaller and slightly darker
than the females, with a subapical pale zone to the forewing.
Geographical range. Borneo, Sumatra, Natuna .I., Peninsular Malaysia.
Habitat preference. The type specimen was from Pontianak and there are
two specimens in the BMNH from Pulo Laut, an island south of Borneo offshore;
both are lowland.
A larval illustration in the collection of the Malaysian Department of
Agriculture has been attributed to pirifera. It is paleish orange brown,
elongate rectangular, with prominent, somewhat backwardly directed lateral scoli.
The subdorsals are smaller with conspicuous white spines.
