Lampropteryx
moroessa Prout comb. n.
Paracomucha moroëssa Prout,
1932, J. Fed. Malay States Mus., 17: 58.
Diagnosis. This species could be confused with Visiana sordidata Moore or Ecliptopera
furvoides Thierry-Mieg, but the uniform hindwing distinguishes it from the
former, and the bluish grey tone to the ground colour of the forewing, with
absence of the Ecliptopera 'marginal triangle', distinguishes it from
the latter. On the underside there is a conspicuous row of pale dots
submarginally on both wings.
Taxonomic notes. The species is allied to chalybearia Moore, the type species of Paracomucha,
with L. dispar Warren (Luzon) similar in facies but with more
distinct male genitalia.
Geographical
range. Borneo.
Habitat
preference. The
unique holotype was from Lumu Lumu, at about 1600m on G. Kinabalu.
