Diagnosis. There is only faint, diffuse fasciation on the dull
red wings. Confusion is possible with some of larger, uniform red Cyclophora and
Perixera Meyrick species, but maximaria is larger, and lacks the
expanded hindwing discal marking of the P. monetaria Guenée group. The
male forewing venation is diagnostic. Within Mesotrophe, confusion with M.
impavida Prout comb. n. is possible, but the latter is a duller,
greyer red. Examination of the genitalia is recommended: the differences can be
clearly seen in the figures.
Geographical range. Borneo,
Sumatra.
Habitat preference. Only
one specimen has been taken in recent surveys, a female from
