Perixera contrariata

Diagnosis. (See P. obliviaria). Examination of the genitalia is advisable to separate the two species with confidence.

Taxonomic notes. P. contrariata lacks the definitive Perixera features. The uncus of the male genitalia is digitate as in the Trirachopoda group, but the valve is elongate with a costal lobe, but also a saccular spur as in Cyclophora and Streptopteron.

Geographical range. Sundaland, Andamans, Thailand, N.E. Himalaya, Taiwan, Hong Kong.

Habitat preference. The species is uncommon and lowland. The two specimens taken in recent surveys were from dipterocarp forest at 250m on the limestone G. Api and from secondary and coastal forest at Seria in Brunei.

Biology. The species has been reared from Dalbergia (Leguminosae) in the Andamans (unpublished IIE records).
