Diagnosis. The forewing medial zone is densely, darkly fasciated,
the postmedial more strongly flexed at one third from the costa than the
antemedial, a characteristic shape, often highlighted by paler colour in the
parts of the wing outside it except for a subapical triangle on the costa. The
male hindwing is rather narrow, folded, acute, with a groove of dark scales just
dorsal to the marginal angle.
Geographical range. New
Guinea, S. Moluccas; Borneo (ssp. animata).
Habitat preference. The species ranges from 1560m to 1930m on G. Kinabalu,
and has been taken singly on G. Mulu (1780m) and Bukit Retak (1365m).
