Diagnosis. The forewings are a dark maroon-brown with bands that are sharply
defined and suffused with bluish grey, sometimes with clearer, almost iridescent
rows of spots of the same colour. The hindwings are paler grey-brown,
unfasciated.
Taxonomic notes. The pale bluish spots vary greatly in intensity in Bornean material, but
are generally present in specimens from Peninsular Malaysia.
Geographical range. Borneo; Peninsular Malaysia (ssp. scintillulata).
Habitat preference. Most Bornean material is from G. Kinabalu, over an
altitude range of 1600-2110m (three specimens). A fourth specimen was taken at
1700m on G. Mulu.
