Carbia moderescens sp. n.
Carbia moderescens(holotype)
(x 1.33) |
|
11mm. This species resembles C. moderata Walker in facies, but is
larger and more lightly marked with a diagnostic irregular row of dark brown
marks just distal to the forewing postmedial. There is a similar dark brown mark
at the dorsum of the hindwing, with the distal margin shallowly excavate
adjacent to it. The genitalia, however, indicate a closer relationship to calescens,
the bursa being tubular over its basal two thirds with spining along one
side. The base of the ductus is triangular rather than bulbous, though very
broad in both species.
Holotype . BRUNEI: 1618m Bukit Retak,
montane forest, 14.9.79. (Lt. Col. M.G. Allen) BM geometrid slide 18605.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. The single specimen is from upper montane forest.
