Organopoda
?acmaea Prout
Organopoda acmaea Prout, 1938, Gross-Schmett. Erde, 12:
147.
Organopoda carnearia Walker
sensu Holloway, 1976: 63.
Diagnosis. This species and O. acerbata Prout have the forewing discal mark
dark: a dot in acmaea and a more indistinct transverse dash in acerbata.
Otherwise, dissection of the genitalia is necessary to distinguish the two.
Taxonomic notes. Males only have been seen from the type locality, and all Bornean and
Sumatran specimens seen are female, hence the association is somewhat tentative.
In the females, the lamella antevaginalis is somewhat pouched, the pouch flanked
by outwardly directed triangular processes.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, ?Borneo and Sumatra.
Habitat preference. Most specimens have been taken in the upper montane
zone (1930m on G. Kinabalu, 1680m on Bukit Pagon in Brunei), but one was taken
at 250m in dipterocarp forest on the lower slopes of the limestone G. Api during
the Mulu survey.
