Acidalia renunciata
Walker, 1861, List Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus., 23: 763.
Idaea
renunciata (holotype)
(x 1.16)
|
Diagnosis and taxonomic notes. This species has been placed as a synonym of I.
actiosaria Walker (Sri Lanka), but is probably distinct. The facies is not
unlike that of ptyonopoda, so renunciata may represent a senior
synonym. Unfortunately, the abdomen associated with Walker's holotype female is
male and not geometrid! The identity may only be resolved when more extensive
material of the genus is available from Borneo that may indicate with higher
probability that only one species of this facies type occurs there.
Alternatively it may represent the female of the more strongly marked males
(e.g. slide 18502) referred to on Idaea
sp.A, though the postmedials in these are
slightly more distal.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. The holotype (A.R. Wallace material) from Sarawak is
likely to have been taken in the lowlands.
