Diagnosis. This and the next species have a very similar forewing facies that is
strongly fasciated with dark brown and black on a pale brown ground. The
postmedial is markedly sinuous. There is a white patch at the dorsum just basal
to the antemedial that is usually much more prominent in erecta. T. ceramica Rothschild
has a yellower tone to the ground colour and to the hindwings. These are
narrower in males of ceramica, with a much larger anal lobe. The forewing
dark subbasal band is more expanded over its posterior half in erecta, and
the wings as a whole are deeper, more triangular.
Geographical range. Borneo; Seram (ssp. sententiosa).
Habitat preference. T. erecta has only been taken on G. Kinabalu at altitudes above
2000m. It was particularly abundant at 2600m but was recorded to as high as
3750m by Holloway (1976).
