Abraxas
subhyalinata Röber
Abraxas subhyalinata Röber,
1891, Tijdschr. Ent. 34: 333.
Abraxas discata Warren, 1897, Novit. zool. 4:
86.
Diagnosis. The markings are paler grey on this, the smallest of Bornean Abraxas and
more or less restricted to the wing margins except in the discal area.
Taxonomic notes. A. privata Bastelberger from Sumba and Timor is closely related
if not conspecific, but has a cream zone between the marginal and submarginal
grey of the wings. Material from Sumbawa is intermediate between subhyalinata
and privata. A. labraria Guenée (Java) and A. expectata Walker
(N. Australia) may also be related.
Geographical range. Flores, Borneo (Pulo Laut).
Habitat preference. The Bornean distribution suggests this is a lowland
species favouring areas with a definite dry season.
