Lomographa
sectinota Hampson comb. n.
Tasta sectinota Hampson, 1895. Fauna Brit. India, Moths, 3:154.
Tasta sectinota Hampson; Holloway, 1982: 252.
Diagnosis. This species resembles a large L. juta but is easily
distinguished by the conspicuous elliptical ocellus near the forewing apex.
Taxonomic notes. Holloway (1982) reviewed and drew attention to the occurrence of the
forewing ocellus character in several Lomographa. It seems on balance
preferable to place this species in Lomographa rather than to transfer
the other species to Tasta. The relationship of Tasta and Lomographa
is unclear (See Tasta
Walker).
Geographical range. N.E. Himalaya, Burma, Sundaland.
Habitat preference. The species is rare, noted from lowland forests
(specimens from 300m and 500m) and lower montane forest (a singleton from 1000m).
