8-10mm. The wings are a rather uniform
grey, lightly marked, but with a
diagnostic pale basal zone. The fasciae are finely etched, those of the hindwing
more or less parallel, closely enclosing the discal spot. The hindwing
submarginal band is dark over the anterior half, intensifying to the centre of
the wing but then becoming sharply paler over the posterior half. The male
genitalia have a strongly sclerotised uncus and gnathus, the former tapering but
apically expanded, bluntly bifid. The valves are deep as in bifida, with
a semidetached costal arm, but this arm is shorter and the ventral margin of the
valve evenly and strongly curved rather than somewhat triangular. The saccular
process is long, slightly curved.
