Diagnosis. The wings are a uniform dark grey with an olive green tinge. There are
scattered cream striae and a weak, punctate cream postmedial on the forewing. On
the hindwing, cream markings are most intense along the dorsum, with a prominent
band at the postmedial. The female is larger with a strongly but narrowly
falcate apex to the forewing.
Geographical range. W., S. and E. China, N.E. Himalaya, Sumatra,
Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.
Habitat preference. H. aquilaria is a rare species of lowland forest: only three
specimens were taken during the Mulu survey.
