Petelia
distracta Walker stat. rev.
Bargosa distracta Walker, 1860, List Specimens lepid. Insects
Colln Br. Mus., 21: 481.
Ephyra strigulataria Walker,
1862, Ibid. 26: 1575.
Diagnosis. See the previous species and the next for facies differences. In the male
genitalia the valves are short and rather broad, and the uncus is relatively
short with an angle at two thirds, beyond which it is deeper, with straight
sides dorsally and ventrally except for a small apical hook; the shape is
reminiscent of the blade of an ice-hockey stick. The blunt cornutus is
relatively basal in the vesica, with a zone of corrugation distal to it.
Taxonomic notes. The species is revived from synonymy with medardaria.
Geographical range. India, Sundaland, Sulawesi, New Guinea.
Habitat preference. The species is rare in Borneo. It has been taken in
several lowland forest localities but also at 1000m in lower montane forest on
G. Mulu.
