Luxiaria
tephrosaria Moore
Acidalia tephrosaria Moore,
1867, Proc. zool. Soc. Lond., 1867: 643.
Luxiaria tephrosaria? ichnaea Prout,
1932, J. fed. Malay States Mus., 17: 88.
Diagnosis. See diagnosis of L. emphatica. The male genitalia of the two
species are very similar with the subapical flange of the ventral valve arm
relatively large, but this arm is more robust in tephrosaria. The
cornutus of the aedeagus vesica is much larger in tephrosaria and the
accessory scobination more conspicuous. The aedeagus has a distally directed
spine subapically, more or less adpressed to the shaft.
Taxonomic notes. L. celebesa Debauche stat. n. from Sulawesi was originally
described as a subspecies of tephrosaria but proves to be a good species.
Geographical range. N.E. Himalaya, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species is abundant in upper montane forests,
occurring up to 2600m.
