Diagnosis. See the previous species. This is more variable, specimens with pale
fawn or ochreous brown ground being noted as well as the more common vinous or
reddish brown forms. Genitalia differences are only minor (see Holloway (1976)).
Taxonomic notes. This appears to be a duplex of G. apicata, replacing it in a
higher altitude zone. G. apicata was classified in the upper montane
element and G. altapicata in the Radio Sabah element of the analysis by
Holloway (1970).
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species was taken in numbers at 2600m (Radio
Sabah) on G. Kinabalu, with one specimen recorded at 2110m.
