Fascellina
aurifera Warren
Fascellina aurifera Warren,
1897, Novit. zool., 4:118.
Diagnosis. In this and the next four species the forewing dorsum is sinuous, the
tornal margin of the forewing and the hindwing apex slightly excavate. This
species has the forewing apex more produced. The facies is somewhat more mottled
with extensive grey elements, and there is no white discal patch to the
forewing. The forewing underside is completely shaded (rather than just
distally) with dark brown, and with a submarginal row of diffuse yellow patches;
the zone between the postmedial and the submarginal is tinged greyish and paler,
rather than being rich brown or just slightly darker.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia and adjoining parts of Thailand,
Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species is frequent in lowland rain forest.
