Plutodes
Guenée
Type species: cyclaria Guenée.
The main features of this genus have already been noted in the tribal
description. Most species have basal and distal brown patches on each wing, the
distal ones often circular or elliptical and traversed by an irregularly zig-zag
line that is slightly darker than the patch itself and often more rufous. The
borders of the distal patches are delineated by a fine double dark line centred
with slightly iridescent scales.
The genus is diverse in the Oriental tropics and extends more weakly
into the Australian tropics and to subtropical latitudes in eastern Asia.
