Callopistria
microptera Hampson
Eriopus microptera Hampson,.1908, Cat. Lepid. Phalaenae Br. Mus., 7:574.
Taxonomic
notes. This
species is only represented by the type specimen, purportedly a male. Dissection
proved it to be a glued chimera, a female body with male wings glued on! The
genitalia had a single band of scobination in the bursa, so the body is unlikely
to be Callopistria, but is likely to be that part of the specimen to
which the label data refer: Sarawak, collected by A.R. Wallace. The wings are
definitely of Callopistria but cannot be assumed to be of Bornean
provenance. It is therefore not illustrated and is excluded from the Bornean
fauna until its status can be determined.
