Mosara Walker Gen. rev.
Type species: apicalis Walker.
This genus was
erroneously subordinated to Callopistria Hübner by Holloway (1989), as mentioned on p. 47. It
shares a number of features with Aedia, such as the general structure of the male genitalia,
particularly of the valves and the radulate structure associated with the
aedeagus. It is possibly merely a strongly modified Aedia, but has four
features of the male that are distinctive: strongly bipectinate male antennae;
a prominent arcuate fold longitudinally in the male hindwing; modification of
the seventh segment of the abdomen as well as the eighth (Holloway, 1989: figs
257, 258); extension of the valve bases well beyond the sacculus. It is
therefore tentatively restored to full generic status. It is monobasic, the
only species occurring in Borneo and treated in detail by Holloway (1989).
