SUBFAMILY AEDIINAE

Ecpatia obscura sp. n. (Plate 2, Fig 82)

GG 11-13mm. This and the next two species have dark blackish brown forewings marked in a similar manner to E. longinquua but differing primarily in the structure of the male genitalia. In this species the pale reniform area and the two pale striae at the marginal angle are obscure, barely perceptible in some specimens. In the male genitalia, the coronal setae are much longer than in longinquua, and the harpe is more slender, more narrowly based and extending to beyond the constriction of the cucullus, which is itself equal in width to the basal part of the valve rather than narrower. The lobe of the peniculus is rounder. The aedeagus vesica has a very short, broadly based cornutus and one patch of fine deciduous spicules rather than two of the latter.
