Lophoptera obscurapex sp. n.
11-12mm. The species is smaller than punctapex (average 15mm)
with the forewings dark vinous brown rather than indigo; the subapical spot is
not yellow, merely obscurely paler than the ground; there is a paler zone over
the basal part of the wing of sinuous form as in the grey cloud of the punctapex
rare form, which has a small darker spot in its posterior excavation; the
reniform is more excavate distally than in punctapex, and the submarginal
is not whitish but pale vinous brown, following a zig-zag course anterior to the
subapical patch rather than being more or less straight. The male genitalia are
as in punctapex.

There are also three specimens from Bidi, Sarawak.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. This is probably a species of lowland rainforest.
