Lophoptera
leucostriga Hampson
Stictoptera leucostriga Hampson,
1905, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (7), 16: 535.
Lophoptera leucostriga Hampson;
Holloway, 1976: 19.
Diagnosis. The species is somewhat similar to L. illucida Walker in having a
semicircular pale zone on the centre of the forewing dorsum; this is rufous in leucostriga
but usually dark brown, rarely rufous, in illucida. It is smaller and
can be distinguished from illucida most reliably by the lenticular
creamwhite marking centrally, submarginally.
Geographical range. Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Borneo.
Habitat preference. The species is found infrequently in a range of
forest types, possibly with the exception of heath forest, from the lowlands to
2000m.
