Diagnosis.
This species and P. violacea (see below) are similar in the way the straight,
transverse forewing postmedial has a darker zone distal to it that fades towards
the margin, but this is more clearly defined in violacea,
which also has a more fawn ground colour to all the wings. The hindwing has a
darker border in both species, but the inner margin of this is much straighter
in violacea,
and
the area basal to it is distinctly paler.
Geographical
range. Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia.
Habitat
preference. The species is infrequent from the lowlands in both forested
and disturbed habitats; one specimen was recorded at 1618m on Bukit Retak.
