This
sequence contains species where the eighth abdominal segment in the male is
virtually unmodified, with the apodemes on the tergite, if present, well
separated. Seven of those up to Varicosia Hampson
were listed (see p. 7) as Catocalinae by Fibiger (2003). A number more have the
ostium associated with a modified seventh sternite: Ischyja
Hübner,
Sarobacala
Gen.
n.,
and to a reduced extent in Papuacola Hampson, Fodina Guenée,
the Brontypena
Holland
group and Mesosciera Hampson.
