Fodina
sumatrensis Prout
Fodina
sumatrensis Prout, 1924, Bull. Hill Mus. Witley,
1: 425.
Diagnosis.
The creamy white bands and markings on the dark brown of the forewing are
slightly reminiscent of those of some Heoeugorna Hampson
species, but the yellow and dark brown hindwings are distinctive.
Geographical
range. Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo.
Habitat
preference. Most records are from the lowlands. Two older specimens are
from Samarinda in Kalimantan. One was taken at 30-60m in forest at Labi in
Brunei. Three out of four specimens from the Mulu survey were from dipterocarp
forest on limestone at 250-270m on the slopes of G. Api, but the fourth was from
lower montane forest at 1000m on G. Mulu. The species has also been taken in
lowland forest of the Barito Ulu of Kalimantan Tengah.
