Diagnosis.
The facies is generally similar to that of the preceding species, but the
forewing costa has a much more gently tapering band along it that is paler or
darker than the ground, the submarginals are more prominent, pale, fine,
straighter, and the hindwing dorsum never has black submarginal marks.
Taxonomic
note. The species was reviewed by Holloway (1979).
Geographical
range. Andamans, Java, Sumatra (HS / ZSM), Borneo, Moluccas, New Guinea,
Queensland, Bismarcks, Solomons, Fiji, Rotuma, New Caledonia, Samoa (ssp. armstrongi).
Habitat
preference. The only Bornean material seen is a female from Kretam on the
coast of Sabah, and a male from 85 miles (?upstream) from Pontianak in
Kalimantan.
