Diagnosis.
The generally curved and strongly oblique cream and dark brown patterning on the
forewing is unmistakable.
Taxonomic
note. Poole (1989) treated variegata
as
a good species, despite it having been placed as a synonym of obliqua
by
Hampson (1894, Fauna Br. India, Moths, 2: 444).
Geographical
range. Borneo, Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra, Thailand (VK), Philippines,
Sulawesi; S. India (variegata).
Habitat
preference. All specimens seen have been taken at altitudes at or below
300m, often in rainforest, but also in coastal areas.
