Hamodes
pendleburyi Prout
Hamodes
pendleburyi Prout, 1932, Bull. Hill Mus. Witley,
4: 287.
Hamodes pendleburyi Prout; Holloway, 1976: 38.
Diagnosis.
Both sexes resemble females of propitia but have the margin of the darker shading on the
distal side of the hindwing fascia roughly bidentate rather than jaggedly
irregular. The black fasciation on the underside is much more emphatic, regular
and straighter than in female propitia.
Geographical
range. N.E. Himalaya, Thailand (VK), Peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra,
Borneo.
Habitat
preference. Some confusion with females of propitia
was
probable during field counts during the Mulu survey, but the species appears to
be rare in forests from the lowlands to around 1790m.
