Lycimna
polymesata Walker
Lycimna
polymesata Walker,
1863, List
Specimens lepid. Insects Colln Br. Mus., 20: 214.
Diagnosis.
In size, approximate wing shape and fasciation, this species bears some
resemblance to Goniophila
excavata, but the falcation of the forewing is more pronounced at the
angle at the centre of the margin rather than at the apex, and the angle at the
hindwing dorsum is almost right-angled rather than distinctly obtuse, though
still at CuA2. The markings are orange on a warm, medium brown rather than red
on grey; there is a distinct white mark at the centre of the forewing just
distal to an oblique, straight dark brown fascia that runs from the apex to the
centre of the dorsum, a line that is continued antemedially on the hindwing.
Geographical
range. N.E. Himalaya, Borneo, Sumatra (HS / ZSM), Java.
Habitat
preference. The only Bornean specimens seen are from lower montane forest
at 1000m on G. Mulu and from Bidi in the lowlands of Sarawak. The species
appears to be much commoner in Sumatra.
