Poliofoca
gebenna Swinhoe
Talapa
gebenna Swinhoe, 1903, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (7),
11: 509.
Diagnosis.
The facies is mostly a pale mauve-grey, with the forewing apex being shallowly
bifalcate, the more posterior angle being at one third from the apex. The
fasciation and other markings are similar to those of Mecodina species
but obscure and rather punctate. The costal triangle of the forewing postmedial
is much smaller than in Mecodina.
Geographical
range. Sundaland, Thailand, Philippines.
Habitat
preference. The species is rare, with only five specimens taken in recent
surveys, one from 100m on G. Santubong, a forested hill near Kuching, and two
from a roadside in an area of selectively logged forest at 100m near the Danum
Valley Field Centre. Chey (1994) recorded it singly in a Pinus
plantation
and in secondary forest in the lowlands of Sabah.
