Cultripalpa
lunulifera Hampson
Cultripalpa
lunulifera Hampson, 1926, Descr. Gen. Spec. Noctuinae,
p. 589.
Diagnosis.
See the previous species.
Taxonomic
note. The species is closely related to C.
trifasciata Moore stat.
rev. (N.E.
Himalaya) but the males of the latter are darker, less variegated. A related
species also occurs in Seram, the males being similar but the females more
variegated. It may be this species that was recorded as partita in
Australia by Nielsen et
al. (1996),
though material in BMNH indicates that there are two species in New Guinea. A
member of the complex occurs in Thailand (VK).
Geographical
range. Singapore,
Peninsular Malaysia, Borneo. Specimens from the Himalaya, Borneo and Seram have
identical male genitalia.
Habitat
preference. Only four specimens have been recorded in recent surveys, both
from Brunei: a male from montane forest at 1618m on Bukit Retak; a male from
logged lowland forest at 170m near the Danum Valley Field Centre; a female from
lowland forest at 325m in the Ulu Temburong; a female from lowland forest in the
Barito Ulu of Kalimantan Tengah.
