Diagnosis.
This is the only species lacking a blue medial band on the hindwing. The
forewing marginal zone is diagnostically pale ochreous fawn, and the margins of
the hindwings are also distinctly paler. The male has the hindwing somewhat
reduced in size and tinged ochreous on the underside.
Taxonomic
note. A closely related species, A. eccentrica Yoshimoto
(1999), is found on Mindanao in the Philippines.
Geographical
range. N.E. Himalaya, Thailand, Sumatra (HS / ZSM), Borneo.
Habitat
preference. Three specimens were taken during the Mulu survey, two in
lowland forest (alluvial forest and forest on limestone at 70m, forest on
limestone at 250m (G. Api)) and in lower montane forest (900m on G. Api). There
are also two specimens from Bidi in the lowlands of Sarawak.
Biology.
The adult has been recorded piercing fruit in Thailand (Bänziger, 1982; Kuroko
& Lewvanich, 1993).
