Diagnosis.
This is a variable species with ground colour in various shades from pale fawn
to violet grey. Constant features of the forewing that distinguish the species
are a straight, dark, double antemedial in almost a subbasal position, and a
marbled greyish triangular area on the costa adjacent and distal to the
postmedial, with a dark brown streak running through its posterior apex to the
angle on the distal margin. A few specimens , including the holotype of carnitincta,
have the discal and medial markings picked out in dark brown.
Geographical
range. Borneo, Singapore, Sumatra, Philippines.
Habitat
preference. All material is from the lowlands, including disturbed
habitats, dry heath forest and coastal forest. The species is infrequent and was
not recorded during the Mulu survey, most specimens seen being from Brunei.
