“Olulis”
sarconia
Hampson
comb. n.
Dunira
sarconia Hampson, 1926, Descr. Gen. Spec. Noctuinae,
p. 483.
Diagnosis.
Both fore- and hindwings have a similar pattern as in Dunira Moore,
whereas in other Olulis species the hindwing is less strongly marked or
uniform. The fasciation is delicate, lunulate, highlighted with pale yellow amid
a general pinkish fawn. There is variation in areas picked out darker: basally
and postmedially on the hindwing in the specimen illustrated; on the forewing
reniform in a second specimen; lacking in the holotype.
Taxonomic
note. Dunira Moore has distinctive features of the male abdomen
(see p. 370); those of sarconia conform more with typical Olulis,
despite differences in facies.
Geographical
range. Borneo.
Habitat
preference. The holotype is from Pulo Laut. In the Mulu survey singletons
were taken at 150m in wet heath forest on a river terrace and at 250m in
dipterocarp forest on limestone near the Melinau Gorge.
