Diagnosis. This is a large, only slightly variegated, dark blackish brown species with a narrow central mauve fascia on all wings. The yellow discal spot is associated with the mauve fascia on the forewing, which also has an obscure blackish orbicular. There is variable mauve suffusion elsewhere on the wings, particularly obvious just distal to the irregular course of the submarginals, these in fact being defined by a narrow border of mauve suffusion. The suffusion is weakest just basal to this and to the central fascia, such that the wings appear darker there. The male antennae are not noded, and the labial palps are narrow in both sexes, the second segment upcurved and the third straight.
Geographical range. Borneo.
Habitat preference. The type series consisted of seven specimens taken in montane forest from 1500m to 2110m on G. Kinabalu. Two more have been taken in upper montane forest at 1790m on G. Mulu.
