Bertula micropulla sp. n.

Bertula micropulla
Figure 97

13-16mm, 14mm. The labial palps of the male are typical of the genus. The ground colour of the wings is ochreous yellow, suffused and marked in rich to dark brown as illustrated. The paler fasciation and almost white forewing reniform are similar to those in pallidipulla, but the areas on each side are more variegated, and the distal margin is more continuously pale. The forewing has a distinct orbicular, lacking in pallidipulla, and the dark medial and antemedial fasciae are more clearly defined. The underside is a more uniform brownish ochre, with finely defined, crenulate, dark brown fasciae, that of the postmedial double (the paler central component with strong dark edging distad predominates on the upperside). The hindwing underside also has a finely delineated discal lunule and a small orbicular spot basal to it. The male genitalia are distinguished by valves that are divided to almost half way into narrow dorsal and ventral tongue-like processes. There are what appear to be large paratergal sclerites at the junction of the tegumen and vinculum on each side, not evident in pallidipulla, where the valve is entire, diamond-shaped. The aedeagus vesica is typical of the genus, with a few small diverticula, the rounded central one distally being finely scobinate.
