14-15mm 13-14mm. The male antennae are ciliate, without a node. The wings are mostly dark brown with the paler submarginals typical of the genus. The darker fasciation of the forewing is also typical of the genus, though the dark discal mark is a slender lunule rather than a spot. The sexes differ in the extent of the distinctly paler (more so in the male) brown areas of the forewing that are unique within the genus. Both sexes have this paler zone broadening along the costa until just subapically, where it narrows again. Males have a paler semicircle extending from this over the discal mark, whereas females have the whole medial and basal area paler, though crossed by diffusely darker medial and subbasal bands in some specimens. The male genitalia have an aedeagus vesica with a spined distal diverticulum as in concisalis and butesalis, except it is relatively longer, and the spines are larger, extending two thirds of the way along it. The valves are slightly upcurved, the apex of the costa terminating in an acute spine that continues the curve of the ventral margin. The valve costa terminates within the diaphragma in a rounded lobe. The female genitalia have a short, broad, ductus and a long, pyriform corpus bursae, with corrugation in the narrower basal part that also has a distinctive lateral lobe. The ovate distal part of the corpus bursae is separated from the corrugated part by a ring of coarse spining.
