Hypena epigaea Swinhoe
Hypena epigaea Swinhoe, 1906, Ann. Mag. nat. Hist. (7), 17: 552.

Diagnosis.
The forewings are a dark, rather leaden indigo colour, within which the apical lens appears distinctly paler, with its border shorter and more bulging than in jugalis. The postmedial is possibly of the triarcuate type, but the angles are shallow and rather irregular. This fascia is close to a blackish discal mark that is more conspicuous in worn specimens.

Taxonomic note. It was discovered at a late stage that several worn specimens in the series of jugalis were in fact epigaea. The species will be illustrated in one of the remaining two parts.

Geographical range. Sumatra, Borneo.

Habitat preference. The species is infrequent in a range of lowland forest types, including coastal and kerangas forests.
