Feathalina postreducta sp. n.

Feathalina postreducta
Figure 496

8mm. The only specimen, a male, is worn, but the forewings have fewer dark marks along the costa than in caudata, and those on the distal margin are also small. The wing is more generally suffused with darker scales, particularly along the dorsum where it is extensive and blackish medially. There is no discal spot. The hindwings are also suffused darkly, but have yellowish hair pencils along the dorsum and a rounded distal margin as in plumosa, but they are narrower overall. The genitalia have the valves very much longer than in caudata, with a slight expansion at two thirds. The saccus is distinctively square. The aedeagus vesica is only weakly scobinate.

Holotype . SAR[AWAK] Moore Coll., 94-106, BM noctuid slide 20133.

Geographical range. Borneo.

Habitat preference. The only specimen was taken in Sarawak by A.R. Wallace, probably in the lowlands.
